to My journey to motherhood
| Well it all began one day when
the test was positive!!! It was a long hard pregnancy and I was tired.
I was on bedrest for a long time and between being in the labor and delivery
triage all the time and a three day hospital stay and my blood pressure,
it was decided that I was to be Induced.
The week before I had begun a long stint of prodromal labor. Then Tuesday at my weekly checkup they sent me to have a baby. I went to the counter and told the nurse, "I would like to have a baby please." After a giggle she put us in a room. It was small and they decided we should be in a bigger room so they moved us. OK All settled in. Bring on the pitocin. All day small contractions. They keep saying they are not strong enough. I am thinking OUCH already. Well at 8:00 PM still 1 cm!!! GGGRRRR!!!! They stopped the pitocin and put in cervidil for the night. Then I was told this could take 5 or 6 days. NO NO NO!!! I got to eat dinner. Yummy daddy brought me souper salad. They brought in a pillow for Clint and he slept on the pull away couch bed. SLEEP GOOD!!! OK Now it is Wednesday morning at 6:00. We had contractions all night but not good strong ones. They started the pitocin again. Not so bad except I am strapped to the bed with stuff being pumped into me. At 11:00 AM the nurse midwife decided to break my water. WOW MAMA That started the process moving. By 2:30 PM I had an epidural and was in heaven. I chatted and we laughed with family there. Clint came and went. At 7 is the doctor said that the contractions were not strong enough and it would be a while. We were dilated to 5-6. I said well they feel pretty strong so they put an internal monitor inside. Now they see them. It was 8:00 and by now we were 6-7 cm. But it started to hurt in my tushy!! All of the sudden I started throwing up all my water. After a couple of hours of ralphing my guts up I was dilated to 10. I was 9 and then like 15 minutes later I was 10 cm. Boy were they shocked. At 10:00 I was told you are complete but there is an anterior lip. Whatever that is. So now I have to NOT push. At 11:30 I started pushing. An hour and 33 minutes later I pushed out a beautiful baby boy. He was born at 1:03 AM January 27, 2000. He was 19.5 inches and 7 lb. 1.5 oz.. And he is growing so fast. Misty |
